The organization was founded in 2012, and has since been instrumental in raising the centrality of a gender lens to global migration, including in the development of the new UN Global Compact on Migration. Our members in national and regional spaces, in work with feminists, in climate change, development, labor and in other sectors, have been bringing an important intersectional analyses to issues of migration and gender, all the while lifting up voices of women in migration – those who remain behind, are in transit, cross borders, and who live and work in new countries of destination.
