The Women in Migration Network has brought together a delegation of 17 women from 11 countries for the 13th international forum of the Alliance for Women’s Rights in Development (AWID), taking place in Bahia, Brazil, 8-11 September. See the delegation members here.
The AWID forum is a major global gathering that takes place every three years. This year, the theme is Feminist Futures: Building Collective Power for Rights and Justice.
WIMN Workshop:
The delegation will spearhead a key workshop on Friday, 9 September: Gender, Race, Class and Migration: Cross-sectoral Strategies to Address Root Causes and Consequences of Women’s Mobility. (11:30 am to 1 pm at Ala Terra – Capitania Porto Seguro) The session will spotlight the particular concerns of women in migration while linking to other movements, and will include participants from several member and partner groups from around the world.
