The UN Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Migrants, Felipe González Morales, shared his latest report, Protection of the Labour and Human Rights of Migrant Workers, in July. The report highlights the human rights challenges faced by migrant workers, analyzing how labour migration can put migrants in increased positions of precarity and vulnerability to human rights violations and discusses the need to create and strengthen migrant labour protection mechanisms.
The report references WIMN’s report, No Borders to Equality, based on WIMN’s global mapping of organizations working on migration and gender, as well as examples from Migrant-Rights.org, a WIMN member group, among others.
The report is also available in several languages on the UN website here.
