Enthusiastic Conclusion to Feminist Forum on Migration and Displacement

Join Thousands at AWID Forum in Bangkok

The Feminist Forum on Migration and Displacement (FFMD) wrapped up two days of interactive and participatory discussions and strategizing over the weekend in Bangkok. Then, many of the more than 130 participants readied themselves for the 15th AWID Forum, taking place 2-5 December, also in Bangkok.

Feminist Solidarity: Rights without Borders

Over the first day of the Forum, participants gathered to share their stories, identifying core issues and exploring power dynamics. They also gathered in groups to dive deeper into key themes. Through the second day, participants came together around collective demands and strategies going forward. Interpretation in seven languages helped facilitate interaction among those from some 35 countries.

Meanwhile the AWID Forum is now a focal point. AWID – the Association for Women’s Rights in Development – is convening its 15th international forum in Bangkok. (AWID 2012 was the site of the founding of WIMN as the Women and Global Migration Working Group.)

WIMN is holding a workshop, Building together: Bottom up, Intersectional Feminist Migration Policy on Tuesday, 3 Dec. at 16:15 in Room 110B. Several other migration workshops are being convened by members and others. See the complete list of those workshops here.
