WIMN’s third cross-sectoral dialogue will get a closer look at displacement in a fisherfolk community in the Philippines with activists from PAMALAKAYA-Pilipinas.

The conversation will be facilitated by Triana K. Wardani, secretary-general of Serikat Perempuan Indonesia (SERUNI). We will be joined by three local activists:

Norma Calusor

Vice President of the local chapter of PAMALAKAYA in Navotas City.

Norma plays a key role in planning and strategizing campaigns for PAMALAKAYA. She is deeply involved in both pre-harvest and post-harvest production, particularly in mussel farming. her husband is a small-scale fisherman in Manila Bay.

Rona Escarial

Official of PAMALAKAYA Navotas.

Coming from a family of fisherfolk with decades of experience in Navotas, Rona’s primary livelihood is mussel farming. She is a staunch advocate for fisherfolk women’s rights and works tirelessly to promote gender visibility in the sector.

Terence Repelente

International Network Officer for for PAMALAKAYA-Pilipinas.

Terence is a fisherfolk rights advocate and community organizer. He works to strengthen mass movements to oppose large-scale, destructive projects and advance the rights of fisherfolk, gain genuine fishery reform, food security and climate justice.
