Urgent Reminder and more: Endorse Feminist Manifesto Towards IMRF

May 4, 2026

Towards the IMRF:

A Feminist Manifesto for Structural Transformation in Migration Governance

Friends and colleagues,

This is an urgent reminder to provide your organizational endorsement if you have not already done so. The Manifesto will be shared with Member States at the 2026 International Migration Review Forum (IMRF) at the UN on Wednesday. This is a high-stakes moment for global accountability!

The deadline for signatures is 11:59 pm EDT on Monday, May 4.

Women in Migration Network (WIMN), with critical contributions from members and partners initiated the Manifesto  to provide a collective voice to urge states to act decisively as they undertake this important assessment of the implementation of the Global Compact for Migration (GCM).

We are enlisting a global front of migrants, activists, and allies to inform governments that we are watching—and that we will hold them accountable to international labor standards and human rights treaties.

A backgrounder and the Manifesto are available as PDFs in English, French, Spanish and Arabic on the Manifesto page.

Please share this call within your networks. Let us arrive at the IMRF not as passive observers, but as a unified force for a just, dignified, and feminist future for all people on the move.

As the IMRF gets underway…

WIMN has joined with other civil society partners to issue a “reminder” to states:

UN Migrant Rights: Non-Negotiable Legal Obligations
Ensuring Global Compact for Migration Implementation Respects Binding International Law

The document will be shared with Member States as the IMRF kicks off at the UN in New York. Click here to read this important document.

Apart from official sessions, many side events and other activities are taking place in New York, and many are virtual or hybrid – so you can join remotely as well. We’ve updated our list of WIMN, member and friends’ activities!
